Dr. Deborah Wood
Practice Owner, DVM
Dr. Deborah Wood is the Practice Owner and a full-time veterinarian at GSVC. She grew up in the mountains of North Carolina in the Mars Hill area and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. After graduation, she practiced in Rocky Mount, VA for a period of time before moving to Oregon with her husband. She practiced in Oregon for seven years until the birth of her 2 children, Michael and Ashley. She chose to move to Washington County in order to be closer to the family.
Dr. Wood began employment at GSVC in 2006 under the employment of Dr. Drexel Hull. In 2017 Dr. Hull announced his intention to retire and sold the practice to Dr. Wood in March of 2018. Her goal is to provide affordable, quality service to all animals and their families through caring, compassionate and exceptional veterinary care.
Angie Greer Collins
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Angie Greer Collins has been a licensed veterinary technician since 2000. After acquiring a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Virginia Tech she then moved to Harrisonburg, VA and worked in the agriculture industry while obtaining her Veterinary Technology degree. She joined the staff at GSVC in 2006 and in 2018 she added on the role of hospital manager in addition to her work as an LVT.
Angie also runs her own pet sitting business called No Place Like Home Petsitting which has been servicing families in our area since 2004. Angie enjoys spending time with her dog and eight cats on her farm. Her hobbies include photography, reading, travel and taking naps!
Kayla McBroom joined our staff as a Certified Veterinary Assistant in 2017. Since that time she has had many big life changes including getting married and becoming a mother to her son Sawyer in August of 2018. Kayla has several pets including four horses, two dogs and two cats that she adopted from our clinic.
She spends most of her free time with her husband and babies, but rides horses when she gets the opportunity.
Hannah Johnson began working at Glade Spring Veterinary Clinic in May 2022. She is from Chilhowie, VA. She recently completed her veterinary assistant certificate. Hannah has multiple animals at her home, some of which include six chickens, a cat, and her two beloved dogs. She is a wonderful assistant and hard worker!
In Hannah’s spare time, she loves to go hiking, hunting, be outdoors, and spend time with her family. Her dogs absolutely love to go hiking with her!
Erin Hayden is originally from Abingdon, VA. She has always had an affinity for animals of all types. She joined our staff in January 2022. Erin is currently training as a veterinary assistant, but still working at the front desk. Her goal is to become more involved with the animals directly! She really enjoys getting to meet all the wonderful dogs and cats.
Erin enjoys spending time outdoors and being at the lake during the summer time. Erin is also a wife and a mother to a precious little boy! She has two dogs at home: Sadie Mae and Penny. Penny was adopted from our clinic!
